Woke up at 6am today to the sound of a running dog loosing traction on a hardwood floor. Not a pleasant sound.

Despite a dogs constant need for walkies, making inappropriate noises and smells as well as "taboganing" across your carpet - they are a lot of fun.
Very true. I grew up with a dog, a husky, and I wanted my own kids to have the same experience. They are both having a lot of fun with Buddy.
Dogs are very good for children. Certainly any pet teaches them responsibility but a dog has its own personality and temprement with which the child can learn to deal with. Although I too had a dog as a child and am still irresponsible.
Dogs Dogs Dogs, blah blah blah...cats are better!!
