Can't believe this old radio still works

A Globe world receiver. This is a 10 band shortwave radio. I bought it
just before the first gulf war to get news from overseas (before there
was such a thing as the Internet). I haven't used it since the early
nineties and, frankly, thought it had been lost or thrown out. When I
found it, I popped some batteries in and it fired right up :). Now it
resides in my office, usually with either the local news or some music
playing. First time in years I've used a radio.

On the mend :)

Leg is healing nicely and I'm in physical therapy now. The therapy is
making a big difference. No more cane either!

My dad's cane

My wife thought my other cane made me look old and suggested I use the
one she bought my dad a few years back. Sigh. This sucks. I'm going to
the orthopedist again today. I expect to find out if surgery is in the
works.

Well this sucks...

Soaking rainstorm and the trains are fouled up again. Could this be more
fun :(

Is anything not made out of crap nowadays :(

Amana's top of the line. Five years later-junk. I've just spent the whole of my Saturday waiting for a "authorized repairman" to show up. Naturally he calls after four hours to cancel on me. Grrrrr...... I have vivid memories of items like stoves and the like lasting for 10-20 years before they fail. Nowadays its all just crap. And I'm not just talking about this Amana. My top of the line Whirlpool Duet washing machine lasted a whopping three years before it blew out. Doesn't anyone build a quality item anymore?

Feeling blah...

I know that I should appreciate 84 degree weather in October but for
some reason its getting me down. It just feels wrong.
