Now we're talking :)

2nd hole, Bethpage Green. Perfect weather. My score was nothing to write home about but I enjoyed the game. The great thing about golf is that no matter what is going on in your life, when you play, for a few hours you will be thinking about nothing but getting a little ball into a hole. Very relaxing in its own way :)

Playing golf tomorrow. One of my favorite courses
too, Bethpage Green. It sounds like the weather will
be perfect. After this week, I really need a

of one of the firms I am interviewing with. That is Governor's Island in the middle of the NY harbor. Pretty nice :)

Beautiful day in NYC

The East River and Queens as seen form Tudor City in Manhattan. An old Con Ed plant is being demolished at the right to make way for something new

Off to our neighbor's for a Rosh Hashana lunch. Should be fun. They're more observant than us so I usually learn something new.

Update: One of the guests was an older man who it turns out was a bomber pilot for the US Airforce in WWII. He flew 37 missions in a B-24 Mitchell bomber over Germany. It was fascinating to listen to his account of the air war then. I always like to talk to the WWII vets who I encounter. Their stories are often remarkable. You really get a feel of what the dedicated strength of the American people was capable of accomplishing. I sometimes wonder what would happen if our generation was tested as theirs was. I'd like to think that we would pass that test but sometimes I wonder if the sort of unity of purpose that we exhibited in WWII could be achieved again.

Happy Rosh Hashana all. Shana Tova!

Well, between The Devil and Hugo Chavez and Mahmoud, Why Can't We be Friends, Ahmadinejad I'm really left wondering what the UN is really good for. Half a million people have been killed in the Darfur region of the Sudan in a campaign of outright genocide and not a thing is said by the world body that was supposedly dedicated to the words "Never Again". Instead, we were entertained by Hugo Chavez's interpretation of the devil incarnate and got to listen to the President of Iran lie about his peaceful intentions just weeks after his proxy army in Lebanon, Hezbollah, launched a war against Israel. What a waste of good real estate.....

Huge Solidarity with Israel rally at the UN today

Hard to estimate numbers accurately but clearly well into the thousands. (Officially estimated at 35,000. 15,000 more than expected) Dag Hammarskjold Plaza was filled from end to end and a large crowd had gathered on the other side of Second Avenue. Eli Wiesel and John Bolton spoke along with the wife of one of the captured soldiers. Members of the crowd were demanding the release of the soldiers kidnapped by the Hamas and Hezbollah terrorist groups, a lot of loud criticism of Mad Mahmoud, Iran's lunatic president was to be heard. In addition, the general feeling was apparent that when it comes to Israel, whatever the U.N. was or was supposed to be, it isn't. Here's hoping that the world is listening. The prospect of a nuclear armed Iran, and by extension its proxy terrorist armies, is serious trouble.

Had lunch in an outdoor plaza today. Really quite nice.

Nice day for a bike ride :)

Spent Sunday morning in Forest Park with the kids. Elizabeth has really taken to her new bike. And my son, Jordan, got a real surprise for his sister's birthday. His uncle bought him an un-birthday present, a new bike too. Good timing as his old one was getting much too small.

Forest Park is one of NYC's beautiful old parks. It's pretty big and very well maintained. It has a golf course, baseball diamonds, a band shell and both bicycle and hiking trails along with the usual playgrounds and jungle gyms. My own parents used to bring me here when I was a kid. It feels good to bring my kids here too.

Getting ready :)

Anxiously waiting

Lightning McQueen Balloon

Elizabeth's real party :) BBQ & cake, etc. 40 or so folks expected. Cars (the movie) is the theme. Cake has McQueen on it.

Summer is really over...

September was pretty warm and nice in NYC for the past few years. It sure got cold and miserable quickly this year though. Today we got a chilly rainy day that goes right through you. I really didn't want to get out of bed....

The kids were fascinated by the nickelodeon :)

We'll have Elizabeth's big B-day party Sat. This evening though she wanted to go to Jahns for her real birthday. Mmm...good

The view from downstairs

The Chrysler Building is cool :)

Somebody's Four! :)

And up at the crack of dawn to play with her new bicycle :)

I love the way this house was restored.

It was really falling apart but the new owners restored it, preserving the wooden clapboard siding. Looks to be a late 19th century colonial. Really nice detail work.

Busy day. Spent the day in preschool with my daughter for her first class. Good day for walking Buddy too.

Somebody wants a walk :)

Off we go. I wonder how he will react to the winter around here?

Puttering around in the garden

I just noticed the cherry tomatoes are ready :)

Some quick observations. The Palm OS on the Treo is much more stable than the Pocket PC OS. Really no comparison.

Took apart my wife's broken Treo

and, remarkably, got it working again :) :) Now, which one to use.....

Test Post

Trying an sms to e-mail post now. Tricky to use but potentially very useful.

Got to admit, I'm glad this week is over. Kids are back at school and are resigned to the idea. I am just plain bushed.

Trying to post from yahoo WAP site

Took a walk over to Bryant Park for lunch today.
Beautiful day for a walk in NYC.

Really miss having a camera

As crappy as the Treo's camera was, it was better than
nothing. Hmmmmm........
