New way to post

I am actually posting this on my Treo's browser. I usually use Blogger's sms posting service. This is posting through the mini browser. Its slow but it seems to work.

Getting ready

Life has been thankfully quiet lately. My performance/annual review at work went quite well and I was given a good raise. We are now starting to get ready for our big vacation to the Philippines, my wife's home country. This will be the first trip the kids and I will make there and my wife hasn't visited for 12 years herself. We don't leave for a few weeks but there is still a lot to do to get ready. Should be very interesting and, hopefully, lots of fun.

Bike folded in my office

This is a Zport 16" folding 3 speed bicycle. A bit heavier than some folders at 31 lbs but a lot less expensive too. The gear ratios aren't great but I could pace NYC's traffic without too much effort. I had little trouble folding the bike and riding the subway for a while, I just put the bike against the end of the car (by the door) and stood over it. All told, this could work out as a good form of exercise for me. I have to commute anyway, might as well get a workout too.

My first bike-train commute

I wasn't sure if I could do this but here is the bike in my office :). Total distance was a bit over 10 miles, 3.5 of which I biked. Made it in on time too.

Massive accident on the Belt today.

At least two ambulances, three or four police cars and a simliar number of tow trucks. Saw one wreck as we passed. Very bad....
